AR Templates
Two reusable mobile AR experiences designed to make SAP workshops more interactive through exploration, active recall and immediate feedback.
The Challenge
SAP needed engaging ways to present information during workshops and events. Traditional presentations often struggled to maintain participant attention and encourage active learning.
The goal was to create reusable AR-based gamification templates that could be adapted for different events, learning objectives, and audiences while remaining easy to maintain and expand.
Stakeholder Goals
⚒Requirements
Increase engagement
Improve information retention
Align with SAP branding guidelines
Reusable for future workshops
Work on mobile devices
VISUALIZING NODE ARCHITECTURE
Core Responsibilities
Experience Design
Designed the learning flow and gameplay structure Defined interaction patterns for workshop attendees Created two reusable gamification templates
Visual Design
Designed UI flows and presentation visuals Aligned all assets with SAP branding guidelines
Development
Implemented the experiences in PlayCanvas Built reusable systems for content replacement and expansion Built bonus game for the XR stage at SAP this one couldn't be shared outside the company
Design Goals
Intuitive
Accessible to anyone familiar with using a smartphone.
Themed
Visually aligned with the existing SAP workshop environment.
Interactive
Encouraged active participation instead of passive observation.
Informational
Reinforced workshop content through interaction and feedback.
The Problem
Biggest Design Challenge
Because SAP workshops could run for an entire day, the challenge was to keep attendees engaged while creating reusable templates that supported different topics without rebuilding the experience.
The Solution
Reusable Content Architecture
Separated content from gameplay systems so facilitators could swap questions, clues, and rewards while reusing the same interaction framework.

Concepting phase
Made mockups of each screen before starting anything in engine, once approved I continued in engine

From concept to final product

Mockup before realizing or starting anything in engine
Wireframes in Figma

Finalized in theme and branding
The visuals had to correspond to the branding guidelines of SAP for a consistent look
Ideation of concepts
Solution 1
Why Scavenger Hunt?
Participants were physically moving through the venue. A location-based experience encouraged exploration while naturally exposing attendees to different workshop stations. This transformed passive observation into active discovery.
Solution 2
Why an AR Quiz?
The quiz template was designed to reinforce learning through immediate recall. Participants had to retrieve information shortly after being exposed to it, improving retention.
Impact
Final impact
Delivered two reusable AR gamification templates for SAP workshops. Rather than creating one-off experiences, the solution provided a scalable framework that could be reused across future events by replacing content while preserving the underlying mechanics.

Game Systems
Gamification strategy
To increase engagement and retention, both templates incorporated:
- Timers
- Points
- Visual feedback
- Animated rewards
- Progress tracking
AR infrastructure
The objective
The objective
A scavenger hunt designed to encourage physical movement and environmental exploration within a venue.
Core Loop

AR Pop Quiz
The objective
Measuring knowledge retention after a presentation through a timed, interactive quiz module.
Core Loop

Design Focus
"Immediate Feedback & Engagement: Solidifying retention through active recall and competitive scoring. Gives the user the chance to ask more questions if something remained unclear"

Templates Reusability
- 01
Reusability
Both experiences were developed as reusable PlayCanvas templates rather than one-off applications. The underlying gameplay and AR systems could remain unchanged while project-specific content was adapted through script attributes exposed in the PlayCanvas Editor.
- 02
AR Diamond Hunt
New versions could replace the map, clues, lesson content, tracked images, visual assets, reveal animations, and branding.
- 03
AR Diamond Quiz Game
Users could replace the questions, answer options, correct answers, timer settings, feedback text, and branding without rewriting the core quiz logic.
Accesibility
Entities, scripts, attributes, and assets followed clear naming conventions, making the project easier to navigate and modify. I also created video tutorials demonstrating how to configure the exposed attributes, replace referenced assets, adapt the content, and test each template.
Testing results
Icons unclear
increased and changed icons for more clarity
Icons became easier to recognise.
Instructions skipped
Added onboarding and access to instructions in game
Participants completed the flow without becoming stuck.
Users unsure of rewards
Added animations
Reward animations made successful progress clearer.
Flow validated
Finalized
The final experience was approved for workshop use.
Final result
Reusable AR Templates
AR Diamond Hunt and AR Pop Quiz were delivered as adaptable frameworks for future workshops.
What worked
- ●Facilitators could navigate the experience without getting stuck.
- ●The visuals integrated naturally with the existing workshop branding.
- ●Animated rewards made progress and successful interactions clearer.
Approved for Workshop Use
The final experience was reviewed and approved by the facilitator responsible for delivering the workshop.
Designing reusable experiences requires separating editable content from the underlying interaction systems. Even simple game mechanics can make learning activities more active and engaging.
